Help Flic and Phoenix Move House
Donation protected
Hi friends,
Phoenix and I need your help again.
As most of you know, our current rental is up for sale. It comes as a huge blow after only being here for just over a year. The good news is we have managed to find a new house with a 2 year lease, and now we need help to get in there. It's literally just up the road and three doors over from where we are now. It's $25 bucks a week more than we are paying now, but that's inflating rent in action for you.
The history since March 2020 goes as follows;
In early March 2020 I moved in with a single parent friend to save on rent, for social and emotional support and to know we had a secure property for our children for the next few years. Prior to that we had lived in our previous property for just over three years and in the inner north of Canberra since I moved here in 2007.
As a single parent moving isn't easy, especially the financial demands. and having to pack up a house by yourself.
I had to take out a personal loan to help me move into this property. Just to help cover bond and rent in advance and moving costs.
Three weeks into the tenancy, the owners of our rental property evoked a posting clause on our lease due to the Covid-19 situation, and we had to find alternate accommodation. A posting clause allows for a landlord to terminate a lease when an overseas posting has been cut short.
This is how we ended up in our current property, only to be told two weeks ago the owner is now selling.
It's certainly not ideal and very damaging to both your mental and physical health to have to move so often.
Hopefully we will be able to stay at this next little house for a while. It would be nice to actually be able to call somewhere home.
I am reluctant to ask for help again but I really need to as I don’t have the funds to move again, especially given I am still paying off the last moving loan and there's nothing left over when you're paying expensive rent on a single wage.
The 4 weeks bond and 4 weeks rent in advance is due by Wednesday 30th September, and we are moving on Friday the 8th of October. It's really scary trying to pack house by myself during a pandemic, I have to hire movers to carry the large stuff as I don't have the capability and nor can I get friends to help during the lockdown.
If you can spare anything at all to try help us cover the costs of moving that would be hugely appreciated. It's been a brutal 2 years and Im honestly just hanging on.
Please feel free to share with your networks. Yes, it has come to that. Desperation.
