This is Kat,
Founder of The Cultural Blueprint, a travel company focused on coalition-building and economic support between Black creatives, cultural workers, and tourism industries in the Black Diaspora.
We're raising funds for Flávio Santana, a talented Photographer and Videographer from Salvador, Bahia (Brazil). We recognized his expertise in capturing Black art in motion and selected him as one of our inaugural 'Cultural Architects' to capture AFROPUNK Bahia from the perspective of his lens.
Unfortunately, on Flávio’s way home from the assignment, he was robbed of his equipment, SD cards, and other invaluable items containing all the art he captured at the event. Unfortunately, his experience resonates with many Brazilians who navigate unsafe public transit daily, especially artists and students who try to carry necessary electronics to their destinations without fear.
We cannot take away the trauma of this experience or get back the images stolen, but we can support this artist in rebuilding his toolkit to continue capturing Black life in Brazil. These funds will enable him to return to documenting his community and culture.
We understand many people are struggling financially and mentally right now. If you have the means to redirect a miscellaneous $5 or $10 this way, we’d greatly appreciate any contribution that will assist Flávio’s rebuilding journey.
**The Cultural Blueprint hosts this fundraiser because GoFundMe doesn’t operate in Brazil. International donations made to this fund will be transferred to Flavio. Contributors with Brazilian accounts can contribute directly to his Vakinha link.
