Flashy is my horse, and he’s facing a serious health challenge. He needs surgery to remove a mass under his jaw, and before that, an MRI for accurate imaging to understand what’s involved. We’ve been referred to Myrhe Equine for both the imaging and surgery, with an appointment set for May 13th. The costs are significant and could increase if there are unexpected complications, a possible hospital stay, or aftercare like antibiotics and wound care. I’m also working on arranging trailering there and back.
The past few years have been tough for us. Chaz was unemployed for much of 2025, and while we’re both working now—me running the farm and working in home health, and Chaz working full time and bartending part time at the VFW—our budget is still very tight. We were fortunate to have his military retirement to keep us mostly afloat, but all our savings and available credit are now depleted. Rising oil and grocery prices have made it even harder to catch up. Every dollar raised will go directly to Flashy’s medical bills. If there’s a little left over, it will help with his feed, and if by some miracle there’s a significant amount left, I’d love to donate to our local rescues, Hay Burr Inn and Tara Farm Rescue, where I adopted my horse Justin.
We greatly appreciate any donations that others are willing to contribute to help. If you’re unable to donate, please take the time to share. Thank you so much for supporting Flashy and our family during this difficult time.
