Hello everyone! This is Fizz and she’s the sweetest girl in the world. She wins the hearts of everyone she meets with her loud purrs and love for pets. Fizz is a bit special. She is three years old, has cerebellar hypoplasia (wobbly kitty), is deaf, has a history of kidney issues, and struggles with incontinence due to her neurological issues. This means she is especially prone to UTIs. Despite all of this, she still loves to run, play, and cause trouble wherever she goes. She is a very happy kitty.
On March 13th, she started showing signs of a particularly bad infection. She was suddenly running a fever, lethargic, had no appetite, and was overall not her usual happy self. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a hold of her normal vet, so I had to make the decision to take her to the ER because I didn’t want to wait until I could get an appointment.
Then, her follow-up appointment showed she still hasn’t recovered from her UTI and that it would take additional testing and culturing to make sure it would go away and not come back. On top of this, she developed constipation due to her antibiotics and slight anemia. Overall, these two visits cost upwards of $5000 total, not including her next follow-up, which will be sure to cost similarly to previous appointments due to the testing they will have to do to make sure she is healthy.
A little about me: I am Fizz's parent. I love my girl so much, and she brings so much joy into my life. She gets me up in the morning and gives me the energy to keep on going. I am a college student at the local community college and am unfortunately between work at the moment. Normally, I can take care of these expenses, but due to my personal circumstances, a $5000+ vet bill is something that I am struggling with. The vet bills have been paid, but I am now in more debt than I can handle. Even recovering a small amount of this debt would help greatly.
I don’t normally ask for help, and I wouldn’t be if I really didn’t think Fizz and I needed it. I am asking for $6000 to cover the previous visits as well as her upcoming ones to determine if she’s recovered while I continue to look for work. I sincerely appreciate any support that anyone can throw my way.
