Hi everyone,
I'm reaching out to get help. I've been laid off since January, its the second time I got laid off in a year. Since then what severance I got and what little part time work I have hasn't put me in the best financial situation.
Last week my car over heated because I forgot to put the cap back on the coolant tank. Engine got pretty hot and the head needs to get rebuilt plus I'd like to get the bottom end looked at and have bearings replaced if needed. Cololant hoses, water pump, thermostat, thermostat housings and probably the heater core all need to get replaced. The parts are relatively cheap but as anyone knows, shops in California are expensive. My car is at a reputable shop, Tomas Sport Tuning.
Right now I have twop options. Fix the current engine and hope there's not major damage past what I described. Or get a used engine, do major maintenece on it and swap it for the original engine. The cost is almost the same.
I would really appreciate any help anyone can offer. I will try my best to pay forward or pay back what I can over time once I am back on my feet.
Thank you!
