Help fix City Cinema’s projector and server!

A few months ago, The Charlottetown Film Society  (a registered charity) acquired City Cinema  and is now operating the theatre on a non-profit basis.

With the help of our dedicated staff and volunteers all was going well UNTIL --- the power outage on August 15, which had a very bad effect on our server, (the unit that decodes and sends the films to the projector), which immediately stopped working, even though we have an expensive surge protector. And THEN-- what looked like a small repair has turned out to be a much bigger problem, as the matching card in the projector has also failed! Oh no! For now, we are able to continue with Blu-ray presentations but we need to repair the system as soon as possible to keep the cinema open and on schedule with new films.  We found a solution to purchase a combination of used and new components but all that plus the technician to help install it will cost us about $15,000. A big hit for a small, non-profit cinema, just getting our feet under us.

Can you help with any size donation? We are a registered charity and you will receive a tax receipt for your gift. Our non-profit Film Society wants to keep City Cinema open, bringing the films you want to see to our downtown location.
