Help Fix Baptiste Lake's Pirate Ship Boathouse

Donation protected
Hi there, we are the Mehlenbacher family - owners of the famous Baptiste Lake pirate ship boathouse. 25 years ago, our husband/father, Dave, had a crazy idea! This crazy idea was inspired by Jimmy Buffett's "A Pirate Looks at 40". Dave took this inspiration and after years of fighting for permits, meticulous planning and immense help from locals and friends, his crazy idea turned into reality. He was now a pirate! After a lengthy battle, but ultimate loss, with cancer, this is now his legacy on the lake.

Unfortunately, the boathouse is in bad shape and in need of repair before it's too late. The boathouse sits on 12 underwater cedar cribs filled with granite rocks. Over the past few years, since it was first built back in 2001, the cribs have been rotting away or sliding down the lake bottom into deeper water. We have been in contact with a local dock building company that can take on the massive project of rebuilding the underwater structure but it’s costly and extensive. We are starting this GoFundMe to ask for the community's help. Can we all come together again to fix this once great landmark and to keep Dave's pirate dreams alive? Please help us to save the pirate ship and to keep a unique part of Baptiste Lake history alive! Do it for Davey - Donate today!
