Help Five Star Sitters Recover from Cyber Security Breach

Five Star Sitters is a small, women-owned business based in Las Vegas, Nevada dedicated to providing high-quality, flexible childcare options to families throughout the valley. For over 11 years, we've worked hard to build a trusted community, connecting families with reliable and caring sitters to meet their needs.

The journey of owning a small business has not always been easy, especially as we navigated the Covid pandemic. However, as owners, it has been an honor to be able to serve our community and help so many families - both local and tourists. And we truly love being able to help.

Recently, we faced an unexpected and devastating setback. The payment processing company that we use for our on-call babysitting services underwent a cyber security breach that impacted not only current and past customers but also individuals that have never used our services before. Meaning the hackers utilized our company name to mask the unauthorized charges.

Although we contacted our payment processing company immediately and instantly began processing refunds, the hackers were successful in processing over $55,000 in unauthorized charges to individuals, and immediately transferred that money to themselves. To date, the payment processing company has not processed many of the refunds.

This breach not only impacted our company, crippling us as a business, but also affected so many people we care so deeply about.

We have done everything to attempt to resolve this issue. However, at this time, our payment processing company is telling us that there is nothing further they can do.

As a small business, we simply don't have the resources to recover from a situation of this magnitude on our own. Although we prefer to be the ones helping others, we are at a crossroads where we have to reach out to our community for support.

It is our mission to be able to continue to provide the essential services our families have come to rely on.
