On February 1, 2025, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced the termination of TPS for Venezuela, leaving thousands suddenly undocumented and at risk of deportation. For so many Venezuelans across the country who have come here seeking a safe haven from a worsening humanitarian crisis and dictatorship, this means an uncertain future, despite years of hard work, paying taxes, and contributing to our local economy.

The U.S. immigration system is severely backlogged—some visa applicants have been waiting 25 years for a decision. Without legal assistance, these teachers could be forced to leave the country they have called home, disrupting their lives, their families, and the lives of the children who rely on them every day.
