Help Fitzgerald Fight After Devastating Accident organized by Angie Billington

I am organizing this for Brian and Natasha Harris and his family. Fitz is a brave and sweet little dog who is a fighter. He is a small dog with a huge heart!

from Brian:

Our sweet Yorkie, Fitzgerald, was critically injured in a traumatic accident and is currently fighting for his life at the emergency veterinary hospital.

On the evening of February 10th Fitzgerald was attacked through our fence by another dog. During the struggle, part of the fence broke and he was pulled through. In the chaos and fear, he got free and ran. While injured and frightened, he was struck by a car.

A Good Samaritan rushed him to the emergency vet, and we are incredibly grateful he received care so quickly.

Fitzgerald suffered severe injuries, including:

    •    A completely broken upper jaw requiring reconstructive surgery

    •    A broken forearm

    •    Multiple pelvic fractures

    •    A severely fractured femur

    •    Lung contusions from the trauma

He has remained stable so far and is breathing on his own, but he faces multiple surgeries, at least a week in the hospital, and a long recovery ahead. His care will include orthopedic surgery, facial reconstruction, possible feeding tube placement during recovery, and continued monitoring for complications.

Fitzgerald is a gentle, cuddly little dog who loves nothing more than being close to his family. We are taking this one step at a time, guided by his stability and comfort, and praying his body continues to fight.

Fitz is our boy. We call him our puppy son because he’s like a child to us. He has been in our lives since Valentine’s Day 2016, when we picked him and he picked us.

He’s been with us on so many adventures. He’s traveled across the United States and to 25 countries with us, always right by our sides, protecting us, loving us, keeping us safe, and never leaving us.

He goes in every room we’re in, in bed, in the bathroom, always checking on us and wanting to give kisses. He can tell when we’re upset or not feeling well, and he does the very best job of taking care of us.

Fitz protects the coziness in our home. If everyone is cozy, that’s where he wants to be. If something disturbs the cozy, he investigates to make sure everything gets back to calm. He loves when we’re all together.

He brings so much joy with his funny personality, sometimes a grumpy little old man, but always loving.

He’s been so gentle, curious, and protective with our baby, and he’s been there for us through life’s biggest changes and toughest times. He’s always been a constant source of love, comfort, and bravery, facing life’s challenges in his little, fearless way.

We can’t imagine life without him, and every bit of his recovery is worth fighting for because he is irreplaceable and forever a part of our family.
