We are reaching out with urgent support for our dear friend and brother, Fitzroy Alexander, affectionately known as “Fitz,” a proud and long-standing member of the Desperadoes Steel Orchestra in Trinidad.
Fitz, age 73, has dedicated his life to the band and the Laventille community as a committed guitar pan player. His years of service and passion for steelpan music have made him a respected and valued member of the community.
Today, Fitz is facing a serious and life-threatening health challenge.
According to his medical report from a cardiologist, Fitz has been diagnosed with multiple heart conditions, including atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and possible coronary artery disease. His heart function is moderately reduced, and recent stress testing has shown signs of reduced blood flow to the heart, which is very concerning.
Doctors have advised that he urgently undergo further critical medical testing, including specialized heart scans, to determine the next steps for treatment.
The cost of these tests is between $10,000 and $12,000 Trinidad and Tobago dollars, which is a heavy financial burden. At this time, Fitz does not have the means to cover these expenses on his own.
Now it’s our turn to stand with Fitz.
We are asking the global steelpan community, friends, family, and supporters to come together and help one of our own. Fitz has given so much of himself to music and to others—now he needs us.
Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward his urgent medical testing and care.
If you are unable to donate, please share this fundraiser. Your support, prayers, and encouragement mean everything.
Let’s come together and help Fitz get the care he urgently needs.
Thank you, and God bless.
