Help Firefighter with Long Recovery Ahead

I'm fundraising for my brother, Christopher, a husband, father, and firefighter in Portsmouth, VA who was shot and injured during a routine call on June 28, 2021. His right arm was badly injured, requiring surgery to repair nerve damage (he is right-handed). He has a long road to full recovery, with 12-18 months of waiting for the nerve to regenerate. In the meantime, he has lost income due to not being able to work his usual overtime shifts or perform landscaping duties that he typically does throughout the warm-weather months. It remains to be seen whether insurance will cover the surgery necessary to repair the nerve damage, and he and my sister-in-law, Mallory, have two small children to care for.
