My name is Firas Omar. I’m a web programmer from Gaza, living with my father, Mansour (75), and my sister, Mead (26). We are experiencing the most devastating chapter of our lives due to the ongoing war in Gaza. Our home was destroyed. Our farmland — once our primary source of food and income — is gone. I also lost my job as a web developer. Our lives were turned upside down overnight.
While my mother and sister were fortunate enough to escape to Egypt for urgent medical treatment, the rest of us remain trapped in Gaza, struggling daily to survive amid destruction, displacement, and skyrocketing prices.
Why We're Asking for Help
The war has lasted over two years now. Every day is a battle to meet even the most basic needs. Food is unaffordable. The average cost of a week's worth of food is around $500. Water is no longer free — we now pay for drinking water. With no cooking gas, we’re forced to buy firewood just to prepare food. Personal hygiene supplies like soap and shampoo are luxuries we can barely afford. Medical care is out of reach, even though both my parents and I have urgent health needs. Even withdrawing money comes at a heavy cost — a 50% commission, meaning $1,000 becomes $500.
Where Your Donations Will Go
Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
- Food for my family
- Clean drinking water
- Firewood for cooking
- Basic hygiene supplies
- Transportation
- Medicines and medical treatment
How You Can Make a Difference
Your support can mean the difference between life and death for us. It can put food on our table, provide medicine for my father, and give us the dignity to survive this nightmare with hope. Please consider donating — and sharing this campaign with your friends, communities, and networks. Every dollar, every share, every prayer matters.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness and generosity,
Firas Omar
Note from the Host: My name is Emma and I live in Virginia, USA. I created a GoFundMe page for Firas' sister Rasha over a year ago and now am hosting a GoFundme for her family that still remains in Gaza. They aren't able to create these pages themselves so rely on hosts from other countries to support them. It has been a great joy to get to know and love Rasha over the last few years and my heart has broken hearing and seeing images about everything their family have lost and endured. If you have any questions about this page please feel free to reach out, I am happy to share any resources or information I have.
