Help Fiorella Stay in School After Losing Her Father

Hi, my name is David, and I’m reaching out to ask for your help on behalf of a remarkable young woman, Fiorella. She’s a 19-year-old sophomore at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) and my daughter’s roommate and close friend. Fiorella’s life changed dramatically this semester when she unexpectedly lost her father, who was her biggest supporter, leaving her to navigate this difficult time alone.

Three months later, Fiorella is doing everything she can to stay afloat. She’s working full-time at a Starbucks in a casino off campus but no longer has a car, as her father was paying for the lease. Her wages barely cover her rent, and she’s constantly exhausted, with little energy left for studying or spending time with friends. Her father had paid for her Fall tuition, but with Spring tuition due next month, she doesn’t know how she’ll manage. Her mother, who lives eight hours away, is struggling to support herself and cannot offer financial help.

As a parent, I’ve watched Fiorella show incredible resilience in the face of unimaginable challenges. She’s a kind, hardworking, and determined young woman who deserves the chance to stay in school and continue building her future. That’s why I’m asking for your support.

We’ve set a fundraising goal of $15,000, which will help cover Fiorella’s basic needs for the next six months:

• $6,000 for six months of rent

• $1,000 for six months of utilities
