Hello, This is Fiona, and she needs your help.

Fiona came into my life in 2017 after I saw her picture posted by TLC Pet Rescue. It was love at first sight—a pull I can’t even describe. I was a freshman in college, still figuring myself out, but I knew the moment I saw her that I had a responsibility to give her a happy, fulfilling life.

When she was rescued, it was discovered Fiona had a broken hip. At just three months old, she underwent hip replacement surgery. She also struggled with fear and aggression, but with years of patience, trust-building, and love, she blossomed into the sweetest, most loving girl. I knew the life she had been dealt, but I was determined to give her the life she truly deserved.

Today, Fiona is my shadow. She cuddles between her mom and dad every night and races her brother in the backyard with pure joy. She’s beautiful, goofy, and the greatest blessing in my life.

Unfortunately, Fiona now needs medical care. Her liver enzymes have been trending upward and are now at a level that requires attention. Her veterinarian has recommended a liver biopsy through laparoscopic surgery to identify the cause and begin treatment.

Despite paying $90 a month for pet insurance for years, my claim has been denied. They labeled this a "preexisting condition" due to a slight enzyme elevation from when she was a puppy—a time when no one anticipated this would become a serious issue. The insurance we hoped would be there for moments like this… isn’t. Thanks, Spot.

Fiona is otherwise happy and healthy. This surgery is necessary to keep her that way. Without it, we risk further liver damage and her eventually becoming symptomatic. With it, her doctors can start her on a treatment plan to manage this for the long term.

Fiona has been my constant. She’s saved me in ways I can’t put into words—giving us purpose, companionship, and unconditional love. Now, I need to do everything I can to make sure she gets to live the long, healthy life she deserves.
