Fiona came into our lives in the most heartbreaking way. We found her at the pound, sitting in a small cage filled with her own urine and feces. When we asked to take her out for a walk, she immediately showed us who she really was—sweet, loving, and full of joy. She gave us kisses and even tried to sit in our laps, even though she’s a little too big for that. In that moment, we knew we couldn’t leave her behind. Since bringing Fiona home, she’s been a bright, high-energy, and loving part of our family. She’s still so young and has so much life ahead of her. But recently, things took a turn. We started noticing blood in her urine, and she began having accidents around the house, which was completely unlike her. After taking her to the vet, we learned that Fiona was born with a condition that causes struvite crystals in her urine. These crystals have now formed into a painful bladder stone. It’s causing her discomfort every single day, and it’s heartbreaking to see her go from her playful, energetic self to being lethargic and in pain. Fiona needs surgery to remove the stone and give her a chance to live a happy, healthy life again. We rescued her to give her a better life, and now we’re doing everything we can to keep that promise.
