Hello! We are Carrie & Davin, Finn (Finny) Morgan's parents.

We’re raising money to install a wheelchair lift so Finny can safely enter and leave our home as he grows up and we grow old, and to fix a bathroom so he can shower without hurting himself. It’s for safety, access, and Finny's dignity

We are asking for $30,000 so we can safely cover any fees and unexpected construction costs for the lift and fix a bathroom for his use. We’re hoping to complete this construction by fall of 2026.

The Lift:

We physically carry Finn up or down the stairs from the front door to the main floor. He is 10 years old, 55 pounds, and as nearly as long as I am (Carrie). He moves unpredictably and at full force, like carrying a kid who's throwing a physical tantrum (a laughing tantrum). I can barely hang on. Davin does it most of the time. He's already thrown his back out trying to keep his grip while climbing the stairs. The risk of Finny bonking his head on the wall on the way up is high. Worse is the risk of dropping him without a way to lift him in his wheelchair. Finny needs safe access to his home.

We have been quoted $21,655.00 for this installation, and it will cover:

1) An outdoor wheelchair lift.

2) A raised platform/patio level with the main floor of the house.

3) A new door to the main level of the house

The Bathroom:

The regular tub/shower combo doesn't work anymore. Finny LOVES his baths which means he is physically wild in the tub. He bruises his hands on the sides, his hips on the straps of his bath chair (from arching and kicking at full force), his thighs on the seat, and toes near the tap. It's hard to watch him get so happy and not be able to keep him there for more than a few minutes for safety's sake. We've managed to convert the bathroom to a roll in shower. Things happened and the drain/floor do not work right. The rest of the money we raise will go towards completing that project. Then he can shower in safety!

Who is Finn?

Our little dude has grown into a tall and lean little man. In and out of hospital, he's had 6 surgeries and countless hospital stays. Despite that, he's mischievous, sweet and feisty, and is the beating heart of our family. He gives lovey eyes to anyone who gives him chocolate and poutine. He likes to wheel through big stores and mall food courts for the visual sensations, with his arms spread like an eagle to show his happiness. Thanks to a rare genetic mutation, Finn cannot sit, stand, walk, hear, or talk, so Davin, Gus, and I do everything for him. However, he isn't a passive kid. He lets us know if something is wrong or wants a change, communicating with his eyes, hilarious facial expressions, a shout, or a forlorn cry.

Kids his age have milestones like advancing to the next grade in school or achieving something in sports. This is Finny's milestone! If you can help us meet it, it would mean the world to our family and it would help Finny so so much.
