In the early hours of Saturday, August 9th, our lives changed forever. Finn was attacked in a brutal and unprovoked robbery. Moments later, he was found by his friends unresponsive and unconscious.
He was rushed to OHSU’s Level 1 Trauma Center, where doctors discovered his skull was fractured in two places and a major artery in his brain was bleeding. Emergency neurosurgery was performed to relieve the pressure on his brain — a procedure that ultimately saved his life.
By some miracle, the surgery was successful. Finn is now awake, able to speak, move, and recognize his loved ones. This is truly the best case in a worst-case scenario, but his recovery will be long, challenging, and uncertain.
Finn was just days away from starting his new job as an EMT and training to become a paramedic — a career dedicated to helping others in moments of crisis, just like the one he’s facing now. To know Finn is to love him; his kindness, determination, funniness and compassion inspire everyone around him.
We are asking for support to help cover hospital bills, rehabilitation, time away from work, and the many unexpected expenses that come with such a traumatic injury. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference.
We are endlessly grateful for the EMT’s, paramedics, doctors, nurses, friends, and strangers who have sent love, prayers, and healing energy. Your support means the world to us, and to Finn, as he begins this long road to recovery.
Please keep your loved ones close, tell them you love them, and never take a single day for granted.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
