I am posting as one of Joannie and Finn's friends. Her story: On Nov 14th, we were walking our dogs near a pond with a large population of geese. It was getting close to dark. By the time we got back to the car, my little Finn was foaming at the mouth and his face was twitching. We rushed him to the U of I Vet's emergency clinic. They determined he had a fever of 105; he was having seizures and he was blind. The vet said he was profusely hypersalivating, and his muzzle was twitching and tremors were going through his little body. He was very sick. We didn't know if he would make it through the night. Thankfully, after 4 nights and 5 days in ICU along with 7 different meds, he was able to come home. His eyesight has returned and there haven't been any seizures at home.

He has a long way to go and we hope he continues to improve. If he worsens, we will again need to take him back to the vet clinic. The vet believes he had ingested a neuro-toxic agent such as a moldy carcass, dead rat, or goose bait. Because of the large population of geese, we suspect goose bait. (It was dark so we can't be sure.) Finn is a 2 1/2 year rescue that is loved dearly by his mommy. The cost for vet care is already over $4000 and hopefully, they won't need to return for further treatment. We, her friends, decided to start this fund, "Finn's Fund," to help her offset the unexpected cost of an emergency vet, and be able to continue care should it be needed. Thank you for your time.
