Help Finn and Felix pay off their vet bills!

Donation protected
If you know (of) Finn and Felix, you probably know a few things: one, they are so precious and special to me & two, they keep me on my toes emotionally and financially with all of their complex health challenges.

My goal is always to do right by these little bugs, and I try to make decisions for their health and wellbeing with money in mind (because I have to) but without money determining their care. I’ve reached a point where I need a bit of help to stick to that commitment to them and also pay my own bills, and I am truly so appreciative of anything that comes our way.

Any financial support will first go towards paying off care credit balances, followed by supporting my ongoing and anticipated vet bill costs—see below:

**For more information:**

Finn has had two big emergencies in the past two years that have required emergency vet care, surgery, urgent tests and follow up ultrasounds...in the past 12 months alone, she accrued around $10,000 in unexpected medical bills. I was thankfully able to utilize care credit to fund this, and have one more month of payments until her bills are behind me. Unfortunately, Felix’s recent vet visit is preventing me from totally celebrating that accomplishment.

Felix has an upcoming echocardiogram, which is never eligible for insurance because her heart disease is a “pre-existing condition.” I tend to push these out since there thankfully hasn’t been much of a progression of her disease in recent years and it is cost prohibitive to follow the recommendation of once a year. However, she is also in need of dental work (the second anticipated upcoming large expense) and they need to use this data to determine if she is safe to go under and at what dosage. This dental work is non-negotiable for Felix, as she has a few growths found on her gums that need biopsies and the vet saw a few teeth that may need to be extracted.

My cats’ ongoing care includes 4 unique daily medications for Finn and one daily medication for Felix; they are both on a special diet. The cats’ monthly expenses are approximately $500 before any of the aforementioned added expenses. While I hope some of their emergencies are behind us as they have sometimes led to diagnoses and therefore treatments, these girls are in their senior years and I anticipate progression of disease as they continue to age.

I do have pet insurance for the cats, and that helps reimburse for a number of their ongoing needs. However, there are many exclusions (such as anything related to felix’s heart, anything deemed food or treats which includes their prescription diet and Felix’s supplements, and the emergency expenses this year were excluded because we had already met our coverage maximum).

**Additional Considerations:**

I know and want to acknowledge that it is an immensely difficult time for so many people right now. It’s very strange making my first gofundme amidst genocides as well as harm to so many communities at home. If you do find yourself with the financial means to support me, please also consider a meaningful split of what you would donate to me because you know and love me towards one of the many mutual aid, direct and on the ground efforts.

Thank you so much,
G, Felix and Finn.
