Help Finlay Get Back to His Happy, Playful Self

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Souls,

I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a humble request for help. As many of you know, Finlay, my beloved 13-year-old Cairn Terrier, is not just a pet — he is my world. He has been by my side for so many years, always full of life, energy, and love. Unfortunately, since Thursday, February 27, Finlay’s health has taken a sudden and heartbreaking turn. What started as lethargy and a refusal to eat or drink quickly spiraled into something much more severe. By Friday, I found myself at the vet, desperately seeking answers to what was causing his pain and suffering.

Over the next few days, his condition worsened, and we had no choice but to take him to a specialized emergency clinic in NYC, where he was diagnosed with severe pancreatitis. During his stay, the doctors also discovered a mass in his liver, and soon after, his heart began skipping beats. The concern grew as doctors feared he might be suffering from Sick Sinus Syndrome, which could be fatal. The urgency was clear—the vet determined that Finlay needed to see a cardiologist immediately. I rushed Finlay to another critical care facility in New Jersey, where specialists immediately admitted him to the ICU.

It has been an emotional rollercoaster, watching Finlay go through such pain, but I am holding onto hope as his treatments begin to show positive signs of improvement. On Wednesday morning, he even walked on his own and wagged his tail for his vet as a thank you. Today, the cardiologist confirmed that Finlay was experiencing heart arrhythmia, which is a result of the extreme pain from the pancreatitis. They have started him on new medication to help manage the issue, and he will remain in the hospital for at least another night and day. Through it all, I am holding onto hope, as the vets are cautiously optimistic that the treatments are beginning to show positive results, and there is hope for his recovery.

Finlay’s journey has been incredibly tough, and I am doing everything I can to ensure that he gets the care he so desperately needs. However, the medical bills have become overwhelming. As of now, the cost of his treatment has already reached $12,000, and I fear it will continue to rise as he remains in ICU care and requires additional treatments. I never imagined I would be in a position to ask for help, but I have reached the point where I can no longer manage these costs on my own. Every moment that I’ve been told there’s hope for his recovery has brought a new sense of relief, but the reality is that without financial support, I may have to make heart-wrenching decisions I simply cannot bear.

Finlay is not just a pet — he is my best friend, my constant companion, and the light of my life. He deserves every chance to recover and to enjoy his walks by the Hudson River with his sister, Lucky, and to run around at the dog park again. I am doing everything I can to ensure he has the chance to return home where he belongs.

If you are able, I kindly ask for any donation — no matter how small — to help cover his medical expenses. Your generosity would mean the world to both of us. I am deeply grateful for your support, prayers, and thoughts during this challenging time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping Finlay get the chance to come back home where he belongs. He is my Angel Baby!

With love and gratitude,
Ana
