By the time you watch this film, some of the wild horses you are about to meet may no longer be wild.
At Mono Lake, 461 wild horses were rounded up. Helicopters drove them from the land they were born on, separating families and removing them from the only home they had ever known.
In Kosciuszko, Australia, wild horses are being shot from the air and on the ground. Aerial culling is due to begin again in November 2026.
And almost every day, I receive another message about a horse who has been trapped and lost the freedom they were born into.
Many of you who have found this page already know what is happening. Some of you may only have learned about it today. But most of the world still has no idea.
I have spent six years with these animals, in both countries. I filmed their families, their relationships, their births, their losses, and the land they move through.
I knew these horses were vulnerable. I did not know how quickly everything could change. Even when something heartbreaking happens, a story can still matter. It can help people see differently, remember what was lost, and protect what comes next.
Before a living thing becomes a number, someone should stand close enough to see who they are. The world needs to know them.
This film is now almost finished. I have funded the majority of it myself, and we are in the final stages of post-production.
Your donation will go directly toward finishing the film, including final editing, sound design and mix, original music and licensing, colour grade, additional filming where needed, archival material and clearances, final mastering and delivery, and festival submissions so the film can reach an audience.
Every contribution, large or small, helps take the film from where it is now to a finished film that people can actually see.
Please help me finish this film.
Not just for the horses we may lose, but for the ones who come after them.
