Help finish the Rotary Chief Train

Donation protected
We are currently in the process of fully restoring the 1955 Rotary Chief miniature train. It was found sitting flat on the ground in a field on a farm in Ceres California and was completely stripped of all its mechanical parts and even the aluminum and stainless trim had all been pried off and likely sold for scrap metal. It was just a beaten rusted shell with no floor or wheels.  It looked as if everyone who walked past it had kicked it or beat it with a hammer. When I first saw it in person it made me sad. I wasn’t sure I had the ability to restore something this far gone. I had to learn many new mechanical fields and buy special equipment and tooling to recreate hand made parts that I could only see in grainy old black and white photos I found on line. I worked 8 hours a day on it every day for an entire year while off work during covid and completely restored the engine which actually turned out to look better than it did new. The engine now completed we have turned full time attention to restoring the passenger car. The only car left of 5 passenger cars. The other 4 are whereabouts unknown. The expense of restoring the train has been considerable and most items have to be made completely from scratch as there are no off the shelf replacement parts available making everything more costly. If you would like to be a part of returning this little 70 year old train to its former glory and can give a little, your donation would be greatly appreciated not only by myself but by all people in your community young and old who will enjoy it every year and who will remember it as part of their own home Town Christmas. Every dime will go directly to use in returning the Rotary Chief to like new shape so it can do what it was originally intended to do. spread happiness and amazement to both young and old.

A Little history.
This train was originally built by Arrow development. The same company that built all the rides at Disneyland. It was built in 1955 and installed in a small fun park park known as Playland in Fresno California 2 weeks before the Grand opening of Disneyland. The train is extremely rare and only 1 or 2 examples still exist. It has now been converted to hidden rubber tires with steering so it’s no longer limited to tracks and can now operate on any hard surface and can be enjoyed by many instead of just a few. Anyone who donates, no matter the amount, will have their name added to a story board as one of the contributors who made its restoration possible. This story board will be displayed next to the train where ever it is taken and displayed. I have built many things in my life that I’ve been very proud of. The train is very special to me and I consider it the culmination of my life’s work. Thanks for reading all this and for any help you can give. We look forward to making your family smile this Christmas season. Gregg
