Hi, this is Sidney Madden. I'm an award-winning music journalist, cultural critic, producer and now, a first time filmmaker. I'm raising post-production funds for my independent documentary, And Counting, the film about Black women being pushed out of the workforce.

Since the beginning of 2025, about 700,000 Black women have been pushed out of America's workforce. It's not a coincidence, it's a correlation. And Counting hands the mic to four Black women across industries and generations who share the effect on their morale, the career and their communities. This film bears witness to this calculated attack on Black women – the historical backbone of American labor – and shows how this creating a shift in our society in ways that will reverberate out for decades.

My film is a completely independent project, has already been shot and currently exists as a proof-of-concept mini doc. The trailer for the doc went viral on social media, proving how much this story resonates with so many. 100% of funds from this fundraiser will go toward bringing the full script to screen: editing, color grading and original song composition.

Thank you for supporting this project, independent filmmaking and a story of Black womanhood that can't be erased!
