We’ve decided to create a GoFundMe to raise funds for our Lalo (aka Simba) who tragically passed away shortly after getting leg surgery.

Lalo was our family pet. He was 8 months old, born in October 2024. He was super friendly, cuddly, and loved being on film sets with all our friends. He even had cameos in 2 wonderful films by friends of mine. A lot of you knew him. He would jump on your laps. Very playful and kind always.

Lalo had his sister Nina who were two peas in a pod, always playing. They were inseparable, and we got them both when they were baby kittens.

On June 1st, Lalo got in an unexpected accident, and we aren’t sure if he got hit by a car or got his leg stuck on something, but it was hard for him to walk, and he was in pain. I took him to the vet on June 2nd, where they gave him an exam and x-rays totaling $500. The doctor said my Lalo was overall healthy but had a tibial fracture on his left leg that needed surgery costing between $2,000 to $3,000.

I took him back to get surgery on June 3rd, and on June 4th where doctor confirmed “he died unexpectedly”.

Unfortunately, the staff mentioned they will not reimburse what we’ve paid and will charge me more if I want Lalo to get a necropsy to see a cause of death.

When they finally let me see my baby boy, he looked dehydrated, had multiple incisions in different areas, was bloody and was swollen.

My Lalo is still in the freezer at the Vet Hospital, and I’m deciding to take him to another vet to hold him while he gets transferred to another lab to have a report on the cause of death.

I would like a formal farewell to Lalo. Anything helps, and we appreciate your support and help.

First and foremost, I’d like to bring awareness to these situations. A cat is a living, breathing thing, but most importantly, family. I truly believe my cat would have survived had there been proper care. There are still questions unanswered.

We’d like a proper farewell, and although it hurts, I know he’s resting and not in pain anymore.

We are raising funds to get a necropsy in order to see the cause of death, be analyzed by another vet, and to have a formal cremation, and for any legal costs.
