Help Bring Devon Dobek Home
On October 30, 2025, Devon Dobek, a 51-year-old experienced hunter went missing in the Mount Hood National Forest near Fish Creek Campground outside Estacada, Oregon after harvesting a buck. His last iPhone satellite text at ~7:20 p.m. said he was "good" but packing out would take a while.
Devon is an avid outdoorsman. There have been incredible and extensive efforts by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and 100s of searchers—including drones, K-9 teams, helicopter and aircraft with thermal imaging. The search continues.
All net Funds to support SAR efforts and Devon's family.
My Relationship to Devon & How Funds Are Used
My name is Jace D. Cook. I'm live in Albany, Oregon, and I am the brother-in-law of Tiffany Schoonover, who has been a close friend of Devon Dobek for the past two years. As a family member, deeply commited to finding Devon, I am helping lead this private search effort alongside his best hunting buddy and sisters. Together, we coordinate closely with law enforcement authorities with the sisters and Devon's buddy at the forefront of that interface.
We're coordinating with Devon's family. To ensure complete transparency, I provide their liason with regular updates, including emailing invoices and financial statements outlining how all donated funds are used to support the search.
Devon is the primary beneficiary, with funds supporting his search and family. As he's unavailable, I manage via a verified account ("Devon Dobek SAR Fund" at OnPoint CCU. Net proceeds (after ~2.9% fees) fund:
50% (~$14,000):
Search costs, including CCP OB F (ccpobf.org), volunteer expenses (e.g. horses), k-9s, and a private helicopter company (estimated $637/hour, invoice pending.
40% (~$11,500): Split to volunteer groups like Mountain Wave SAR, PNWSAR, Hood River Crag Rats, PMRU, and others assisting, for rescue and recovery equipment, training, and operations.
10% (~$2,900): Dobek family support, including travel, potential memorial, or estate costs if unresolved.
All payments are shared with sisters; excess goes to family if unresolved. Funds are tracked in a public Google Sheet, with monthly updates.
