Help find answers & support Bagheera’s care

This is baby Bagheera. Four months ago, I saw this silly kitten on the side of the road. He walked right up to me and I knew he was my new family member. He’s extremely playful, loving, and happy.

Unfortunately, his body has not been kind to him. Bagheera has suffered from constipation and bloating since we found him. This is very unusual for a kitten his age. Bagheera has had multiple emergency vet visits, medications, and even prescription foods to try and ease this issue. So far, his lab work, X-rays, and physical exams have come back normal. By all accounts, he should be a healthy baby boy. Despite this, he is currently back to being hospitalized as of 2:00 AM on 10/15.

We haven't given up on finding the answers to Bagheera’s problems. He will continue to receive veterinary care and testing. However, this has caused deep strain on the pockets of both myself and my family. We have shilled out a few thousand dollars at this point (roughly $5,000). I am making this GoFundMe in the hopes of at least covering a portion of his vet bills.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I appreciate you taking a moment to read a snippet of Bagheera’s story.

10/15 Evening Update:
Bagheera continues to be inpatient at the emergency vet. He received his first enema at 8:00 AM but failed to produce any stool. His second enema was scheduled for sometime after 4:00 PM. He will need to pass a certain amount of stool in order for the scheduled ultrasound to occur. If all goes well by this evening/tomorrow morning, Bagheera should be receiving an ultrasound sometime on 10/16. Despite everything he’s gone through, I’ve been told that Bagheera continues to be his spunky, lovable self, asking staff for belly rubs and cuddles.

10/16 Morning Update:
Bagheera had diarrhea around 4:00 AM but still has not passed any of the hard, compacted stool that’s causing his straining and discomfort. He is still set to receive an ultrasound later today. The results of the ultrasound won’t be ready until tomorrow, 10/17, so the vet should be calling later to discuss a care plan. It is very possible they will want him to stay another night.

10/16 Evening Update:
After several enemas, Bagheera passed some stool! It isn’t enough for him to be released home yet, and we aren’t out of the woods, but it’s still something to celebrate. He received his ultrasound earlier today as well - we’re just waiting on the results. Unfortunately, this all means that Bagheera will have to stay ANOTHER night. Costs are continuing to rack up and there are no answers yet, but he’s starting to experience a little less discomfort. They report that he’s still in good spirits, extremely patient and tolerable of the treatments.
