Kernel and Sephora McIntyre are seeking emergency relief funds to help find and assist Kernel's children in Jamaica - Hailey, 12 years old and Nathan, 17 years old. They live on the western side of Jamaica in Montego Bay where some of the most devastating effects of Hurricane Melissa occurred.
We know that Kernel's oldest child, Tianna, is currently safe despite the roof of her house being completely blown off. However, we last had contact with Hailey and Nathan at 2pm on Tuesday the 28th as the eye of the storm was hitting Montego Bay. During that phone call they told us the plywood reinforcements on the windows and door had blown off of their shelter and they were in an extremely vulnerable emergency situation. Since then all communication has been cut off. We do not know the health, safety, or status of Hailey and Nathan at this point.
Commercial flights to Jamaica open up Saturday November 1st. We are asking for your support for travel funds to Jamaica from Maine, emergency assistance for Hailey, Nathan, and Tianna when we arrive, and coverage of living expenses while we are unable to work for the next 2 weeks during our travels.
Any amount of a donation is extremely, extremely helpful. Thank you for your consideration in this unprecedented and terrifying emergency.
