Help finance Ukrainian journalist salaries

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Frances Evans. I am fundraising to support the Ukrainian media business of my friend and publishing colleague Andrii Vdovichenko, the CEO and owner of Burda Media Ukraine.  In 2019 Andrii bought the company from the original owner (Hubert Burda Media) and has since self-funded the business.

The goal of this fundraiser is to provide financing to the company so it can pay the salaries of the journalists and publishing staff in the immediate future, whilst there is no revenue coming into the business.  I have known Andrii personally and professionally for many years. He is a good person, a responsible employer and wants to look after his team for as long as possible during this crisis.

Burda Media Ukraine and the team is mainly based in Kyiv. The majority of the 104 employees - particularly the male employees - have remained in Ukraine. They need to continue to be paid their salaries for basic living expenses such as food, petrol, heating.

Since the Russian invasion all printed publications have ceased being sold and all advertising spending has stopped. Therefore there is no longer any revenue coming into the business. Despite the complete lack of funds Andrii was able to pay the March salaries. There is no longer enough money for the salaries from April onwards.

The company is the largest consumer publisher in the country and publishes over 25 local and international (Marie-Claire, Playboy, Burda Style) print and digital brands. The journalists continue to create and post digital content, providing information and comfort for their audiences. They are now covering topics such as psychological support, volunteering projects, how to behave in the shelters etc. The local audience is turning to their beloved brands for guidance and comfort in these horrific times. Some of the digital content has even been picked up, shared and commented on in international media.

We would appreciate any donations you make, large or small, to help continue to finance the salaries of the local team for as long as possible. Any donations will be transferred directly to the Burda Ukraine business bank account, which is held at the Raiffeisen Bank AVAL JCS on 9 Leskov Street in Kyiv. No funds will be transferred to Andrii privately.

Thank you so much in advance for your support. Please note this donation is not tax refundable. Please also note that any Tip paid to Gofundme when donating does not go to the fund. This is optional and can be reduced or deleted.
