Hi everybody!!! It’s been two years since I’ve transferred to Baylor and I am so excited to announce that I am graduating in December. YAY!!!! For those of you that don’t know I started taking dual credit classes and summer classes my sophomore year of high school not even knowing if I wanted to go to college or knowing what career avenue I wanted to pursue. I was able to graduate high school early, and finished just 6 credit hours shy of my Associate of Science from community college before transferring to Baylor. It has been quite the journey and although I had no idea what God had in store for me over these past two years, I am so grateful for everything God blessed me with. I got to attend my dream school, meet amazing friends, and had life changing experiences. It feels like yesterday that I was waking up at 5AM to go to my 6AM Intro to Biology course. This has been the most challenging journey of my life so far, but it has been so worth it. Resilience is so important and no matter how many times you get knocked down, get back up!!!! I can attest that anything is possible if you want it bad enough and for every time you get knocked down, you are stronger when you get back up. Always dust yourself off and keep going for your goal and dream. Hard work pays off!!! I am nervous, excited, happy, and anxious to say I am graduating with my Bachelor of Science in Integrative Biology as a First-Generation College Pre-Med at 20 years old. Yes, I am applying to medical school WOOHOO!!!! Becoming a doctor was a vision I wouldn’t have had in my wildest dreams, but now that I have been immersed in healthcare through employment and volunteer experiences AND in the curriculum nothing is more fitting. This is a career I was called to because of my affinity for knowledge, deep rooted compassion for people, and heart of servitude. But I need your help family and friends. My dream is to get into a dual degree MD/PhD program in Microbiology and Infectious Disease in hopes of becoming an infectious disease physician-scientist. I had planned on applying to medical schools next cycle, but after prayer and reflection I received confirmation that I have been forged and called for such a time as this. That being said not only medical school is expensive!!! Just APPLYING is a couple-few thousand dollars. My upcoming MCAT I have scheduled was $320. My applications on AAMC for American Medical Colleges are $170 for the first application and $41 for each additional. THEN Texas has their own application service for their medical schools(as they accept over 90% Texas residents) for a flat fee of 140$ to any/all med schools here. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL!!! There is an additional secondary application that must be submitted for every school applied ranging from $65-$135. The average number of schools applicants apply to are 16. So with out even having to do the math, that is ALOT OF MONEY!!! So, I need your help friends and family. Please if you can, help make my dream of achieving the highest credentials one can receive in the US come true by contributing to this gofundme that will enable me to become the physician-scientist I aspire to be.
