Fin, a young whale separated from his family in Samish Bay, was unable to reach deep water as the tide receded and became stranded on the shore. Despite efforts to help, this teen whale—male offspring of the largest whale in the ocean—tragically took his last breath. His loss has deeply affected everyone who witnessed his struggle, and it has brought our community together in grief and determination.
Our mission is to give Fin the respect he deserves by transporting him from our beach, where he will decompose and exude toxins, gasses, and eventually an unpreserved carcass, to his natural environment in the Salish Sea. This is the most ecologically sound and humane course of action. Unfortunately, Fin is being made a spectacle by people cutting and taking parts of his body, throwing rocks, and standing on top of him for photos. Scientists from NOAA and DNR agencies have come to gather samples for various tests but do not have the funds to transport him. This is his only hope.
We need your support to give Fin the respect he deserves and ensure his remains are handled with dignity. Please donate and share to help us make this possible.
