I teach 8th grade math and am always looking for ways to bring joy to my students. This past March, I was gifted this crazy large gumball machine straight out of a Sketchers store that had closed down, and it was nearly full to the brim with gumballs. Now, that “nearly full” sits at “nearly empty,” and it’s officially time to fill it back up!
As part of the privilege to have gumballs, I incorporate the machine into one of our lessons over volume and challenge students to calculate how many gumballs will fit. Throughout the year, I try to ration the gumballs by allowing kids to have one every Monday and every Friday, but with 125 kids getting two gumballs a week, I need around 7,000 to last the rest of this school year. It costs $45.99 to buy a case of 850 gumballs, so I need around 9 cases for a total of $414 pre-tax (can you tell I teach math?!) I would LOVE some help purchasing all of these! By donating some funds, you are bringing just a touch of light into each of my 125 students’ days!
