Hello everyone, almost 350 of us recently enjoyed an incredible reunion for the NHHS Classes of 1981, 1982, and 1983, thanks to the hard work of Stanley Appleman and Michele Bates Abadee.

 

I think we can all say how great that was to embark on an evening of memories and fun, reminiscing on old times, catching up on new. Smiles, hugs, and laughter filled the night. 

There was no shortage of faces and seemingly so little time to jump from conversation to conversation. A great venue, food, music, photographers, and a bar that kept us brave and lubricated! What a well-planned event to foster an alumni speed fest! 

 

However, there's a story behind the scenes that I recently learned, and you may not be aware of…

 

While Stanley and Michele were diligently organizing the NHHS Classes of 1982, and 1983 - 40yr reunion, members from the Class of 1981 asked to be included in this reunion in December 2022. Excited to reconnect with old friends, Stanley and Michele said "yes, of course!". 

 

Then, a disappointing turn of events occurred. One of the administers from the Class of '81 was going through serious medical issues, (sending her thoughts and prayers) and those assisting her actively worked against these efforts. There were false claims that the reunion wasn't for the Class of '81, despite the official and very public website inviting all three classes. Some of the '81 alumni were even discouraged from attending and the Class of '81 FaceBook page restricted communications until just a week before the event.

Despite hundreds of requests from Stanley, Michele, and other 81 alumni, the event was not promoted through the '81 site. As a result, while the Classes of '82 and '83 had strong turnouts, the Class of '81 had less than half of the planned attendance. Many of our fellow '81 alumni missed out on this milestone event, only discovering it afterward through photos posted online.

 

Now, it's our chance to come together as Huskies and support our fellow ’81, ’82 and ‘83 classmates and ensure that no one is left behind in the future.

The goal for us to have these reunions and meetups is not over and Stanley and Michele have awesome plans in the works for future annual gatherings and special events to keep us ALL tightly bonded. Even as you read this, Stanley is committed to preserving our memories by improving the reunion site, creating photo albums, and planning future events for all of us.
