Help me battle stage 4 stomach terminal CA
Donation protected
My name is Dolores, mother of 4 and 3 grandchildren. I worked as a medical assistant for 25 years, very happy with my career. I was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal stomach cancer in 11/2023. At that time, I had my first surgery that would keep me out of work for about 4 weeks and I would never return to normal after that. I started chemotherapy right away, every 2 weeks, to try and shrink the tumor enough to be able to have a second surgery where my whole stomach was removed because it was full of cancer, along with a piece of small intestine and 22 positive lymph nodes. Very hard surgery. During my time off chemo and surgeries, I was able to continue working at least 20 hours with the other payment from state disability and help with a lot of generous donations from coworkers. After surgery, I had to start radiation and chemotherapy together for a whole month because of so many positive lymph nodes seen. So I did, and I still don’t understand how much that helped because I ended up with positive peritoneal cancer in my abdomen walls too. But it's all part of stage 4. Since then, I've still been on chemo every 2 weeks. In the last 3 months, I began creating ascites, and it’s due to the positive peritoneal cancer. So my oncologist suggested an abdominal port for more chemotherapy straight inside my stomach, so I had that surgery completed. But not even a week after surgery, I landed in the hospital with an infection, a collapsed left lung, and shortness of breath. I have been going every week to get fluid taken out to prevent infection or getting sicker.
Since surgery, I feel a lot weaker and have no energy, yet I will continue to push and give it my all for more days that God may give me. I stopped completely working in 12/2024 and went on complete disability, but to this date, I have not received a certification letter that I am approved or not. I exhausted my EDD apparently and made an appeal and was still declined. When I left work, I left with my savings and 401k that would help me pay my monthly mortgage and bills at least until I received SSI. Mortgage is paid up until June, but I have utilities that need to be paid monthly, and with this last hospital stay, my husband had to do family leave at his job to help me more at home now. I am hoping to hear from SSI this month and hopefully qualify for food stamps now that I have no income. In those bills is also my life insurance that I don’t want to lose and give my family more struggle. So I humbly ask from the kindness of your ❤️ to donate for my cause, starting from $1 to whatever your heart desires.
I will be starting chemo again this coming Monday through intravenous port and abdominal port. One to keep the tumor down by where the stomach was and the other to try and put peritoneal cancer to sleep and prevent ascites build-up. Praying for a good outcome.
Some of you might be familiar with my story and I want to thank you for continuous prayers and support. Feel free to share! I will try and see how my financial issues are doing this week with the government and will keep everyone who has help and taken their time to keep up with our life’s.
