Update: We Won. Now We Need to Collect.
I'm Stephan Fischer — AllOffroad on YouTube. For over a decade I've done honest, unpaid 4WD product reviews.
In 2024, Deep Cycle Systems Pty Ltd (DCS) sued me for defamation over two videos raising safety and compliance concerns about their lithium batteries.
On 11 March 2025, the District Court of Queensland dismissed their claim. The court found DCS was never legally entitled to sue me for defamation in the first place. They were ordered to pay my costs for the entire proceeding.
They haven't paid a cent.
Where things stand
I hold a statutory demand against DCS. They've ignored it. The next step is a Federal Court winding-up application — appointing a liquidator to force the issue.
Realistic costs to finish this:
- ~$10,000 for the Federal Court application, barrister and solicitors in Brisbane
- Up to ~$40,000 if no liquidator will act on a speculative basis
My legal costs to date have already exceeded the $120,000 you helped me raise. Without that support, I wouldn't be here.
What I need now
Help fund the enforcement phase so this court order doesn't become a worthless piece of paper. Every dollar goes directly to legal and liquidator costs.
I'll be straight with you — the past two years have cost me far more than money. My 16-year-old daughter was recently diagnosed with cancer and is currently in treatment, so right now DCS is the last thing on my mind. But they had every opportunity to resolve this — they chose not to. I won't walk away.
Donating isn't a refund for me. It's making sure a company that sued a reviewer for telling the truth is actually held to account.
If you can't donate, sharing helps just as much.
