Dear friends and family,
To those who may not know, the White family is going through a very traumatic and emotionally taxing time. Robert White, husband, father and grandfather was recently admitted into a hospital for severe chest pains and shortness of breath. Shortly after admission, Robert was diagnosed with CHF (Congestive Heart Failure). During the tests they found his left ventricle is pumping at 15%, which, in a healthy heart should be close to 50%. After the diagnosis he was taken by Life Flight to The University Of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA where they are currently running many tests. Depending on the outcome he will possibly get a LVAD ( Left Ventricle Assist Device) and At that time he will be placed on the Heart Transplant List. Upon admission at The University of Washington Medical Center they found multiple pulmonary embolisms in his lungs with a large one in his pulmonary artery. The Doctors now think he has Viral Cardiomyopathy, A virus attacked his heart and without a heart transplant the prognosis is not good.
Rob is 48 years old, He has never smoked, never done drugs, Rarely drinks alcohol, no family history and works out several times a week, He has always had his yearly check ups with his Doctor, so this hit him out of the blue. He was diagnosed with bronchitis in December and given an inhaler. His health was not improving and he became severely short of breath and had chest pains that he described as feeling like a truck was sitting on his chest and unable to breath.
Rob and his wife Kristin have been together for 25 years. They have three daughters, 5 grandchildren. They also have 3 dogs and a cat, all of which are rescues, his latest is his 3 1/2 lb Chihuahua, Izzy who has been looking for her dad since last weekend, per his daughters who are holding down the fort back in Idaho.
As you all may know health care can be very expensive and we are asking your help in this fight. Although they have Medical insurance, the out of pocket costs associated with this sudden medical emergency are going to rapidly pile up. Costs such as out of pocket for insurance, bills associated with travel out of state for his wife and normal household bills that with the loss of work, now fall solely on his wife and her income. Rob does not have short or long term disability through his employer, so unfortunately that is not an option. He is in for a long road to recovery.
Once Rob has the heart transplant he will have to remain in Seattle for 3 months at the transplant house at the cost of $3000 to $3600 a month, which insurance does not cover.
First, we are asking first for your thoughts and payers, however any financial donations, no matter how small will be greatly appreciated as well. His wife Kristin has taken time off work and away from school to be in Washington with him. Which is another added expense of lost wages and extra costs associated with her traveling with him, that insurance doesn’t cover.
Our goal is small and meant to deliver immediate assistance. This family will need our continued support through the fight to come.We are trying to get some benefits together to help this wonderful family not have to worry about the extra financial stress so that Rob can concentrate on recovering.
