Help Fight Cancer w/ my Fire Family

My best friend’s mom, Diana Spaulding, mother of four and grandmother of eleven, has been recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer – the news nobody wants to hear.
It started with the phone call you never want to receive from your best friend. Hugo Bedolla, Captain for the Goodyear Fire Department, called me to let me know his mom was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. What began with abdominal pain ended in the worst thing you can expect. Going through the motions of having their mother diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer isn’t something you can be prepared for. My first instinct was to help. To figure out how we could help a beautiful family who is always there for everyone else but never asks for anything back – I thought, what could we do? The Goodyear Fire Department family has come together to try and help the family figure out a way to come up with the funds and support them through the toughest time of their life. We know we’re only stronger in numbers when it comes to family and faith and with that we can get through anything when we come together.
The Spaulding-Bedolla family has found hope for cancer treatment in Mexico. Every oncologist in the states has given Bedolla’s mom a short period of time to live – offering radiation and chemotherapy, which won’t kill the cancer but shrink the tumor with unknown results.
The family is venturing to Mexico for alternative cancer treatments because Western Medicine has said there is no hope. Chemotherapy and Radiation won't help Bedolla’s mother live longer. The alternative cancer treatments that Oasis of Hope (C-ACT) offers will treat the cancer and will prolong his mother's life, giving her a quality of life and giving the family hope.
In order to start the alternative cancer treatment, the Goodyear Fire family needs to raise $40,000 for the cancer care. The quicker we are able to come up with the funds, the sooner we can get my best friend’s mom in the right care and provide her with the best quality of life – and fight this. This treatment protocol is an integrative approach to treat cancer from physical, emotional and a spiritual perspective. Oasis of hopes treatments are intended to work together harmoniously, and a complementary or synergistic fashion, to slow reverse the spread of cancer while promoting the physical and psychological health of the whole person.
We know cancer will touch everyone’s life at some point. And every little bit counts. Now, we’re asking everyone to reach out and spread the word so this family doesn’t have to stress on how to come up with these funds. We’re very grateful and honored that you took the time to read this message and give any support possible. Hopefully, as a community we can come together and start to support each other and understand what’s going in our bodies and how our surroundings affect us every day. Love you all – thank you for the opportunity to share their story.
