We are Consuelo and Sebastian. For over 12 years, Fifi has been the light of our home. She has been with us since she was a tiny puppy, and today she is a vital part of our "furry family" of three: Fifi, Otto, and Rollo.

Three and a half years ago, we made the big move from Chile to the United States. There was never a doubt in our minds: our three dogs were coming with us. They are our family, and they have been our constant companions through every major life change.

Recently, we noticed Fifi was losing muscle mass on the left side of her face and scratching her head frequently as if in discomfort. After a consultation with the specialists at Southeast Veterinary Neurology, the news was difficult to hear. They identified severe muscle wasting (atrophy) caused by an issue with her trigeminal nerve.

The specialists are concerned about a nerve sheath tumor, and to understand the underlying cause and rule out a mass, the doctor has recommended advanced imaging (MRI) and diagnostic tests.

We have always done everything possible to cover our pets’ medical care, but several unexpected situations came together at the same time. Last year, we faced a difficult battle when Otto was diagnosed with melanoma. We managed to cover his treatments, but now life has presented us with a new challenge for Fifi.

Our goal of $8,500 will cover the specialized MRI of the brain, a spinal tap (CSF analysis), and the initial steps of her treatment plan.

Under other circumstances, we would not have turned to a fundraising campaign, but today we need external support to give Fifi a chance. She is still bright, alert, and moving her tail; she is not ready to give up, and neither are we.
