On September 16th Fidel Ruiz-Healy came home to his house in Santa Monica after a work trip to find his house completely ransacked and lived in by squatters — every single crevice turned over and all of his valuables stolen, items left behind including trash and weapons. Plumbing wires were cut as well, leaving the home uninhabitable.
As you may know, Fidel is an incredibly talented, award winning cinematographer, director, editor, a filmmaker jack of all trades. His DIY talents are his only source of income so you can understand how devasting it is for him to get virtually ALL of his camera equipment stolen. This also includes collaborators' equipment that he was holding for them. Unfortunately the insurance on these valuables lapsed, having just ended August 30th.
For context, this is a list of what was stolen:
Leica r lens set
Sachtler fsb10 tripod
Red dragon camera package
Nikon ais lens set
Angeniux 35-70 Nikon
Tokina 11-16 pl
Red pro zoom
Black magic video assist 7inch
Holly land mars monitor
Pentax spot meter
Skekonic light meter
Dji transmission system
Nikon F3
Mamiya c330 and lenses
Yashica tlr
4x gold mount batteries
Sony f900
Sony v1000
Filter nd and black net
Hard drives
MacBook Pro
Xbox one x and controllers
Nintendo switch and controllers
While Fidel figures out a tenable living situation he is still available for film work. Yet any filmmaker understands that your equipment is everything. Therefore, this situation requires immediate attention.
If you know Fidel you know he’s the best team player, amazing at his job and just an all around great guy. Anything helps!
