I work with Kelly Mcgirr at County of Orange Fire and EMS and Sunday evening while on shift, she received a phone call that no one should ever get; Her husband was at UVA Hospital ER intubated and unconscious. He was on his way to visit her at work when his bike unexpectedly left the roadway and wrecked. It's amazing how much one phone call can change your life in a matter of seconds. Mike is a Firefighter/Medic for Charlottesville Fire Department and Kelly is also a Firefighter/Medic. They both have given their lives to not only support multiple communities, but also educate and precept providers to be able to do the same. Mike sustained multiple traumatic injuries including facial fractures, rib fractures and both subdural and subarachnoid hemorrhages during the accident. He has a long road to recovery that will contain several more surgeries to help doctors repair the injuries. With everything going on, I don't want them to be worried about financial burdens along with everything else. Traveling expenses, missed work and medical bills can add up quickly on top of normal monetary obligations. Please consider helping these two as they have helped so many people throughout their lives. Thank you and God bless!
