Who am I?
Hey everyone! My name is Fey, and I'm a full-time streamer on Twitch. I'm a queer, disabled trans lady just out here trying her best, and I've found myself in a bit of a pickle. My disability keeps me from keeping what most of society would consider a real job, and I can't even stream as much as I would like due in large part to executive function. Honestly, I'm in my late 30's, and I've never lived on my own, so I am kinda excited to get into this wonderful studio. I'm a nerd, an activist, and just honestly out here to laugh, love, and guillotine billionaires.
What's the reason for the fundraiser?
Just before Christmas, I learned that my roommates, who were covering the majority of our rent and bills, are no longer able to do so due to rent increases. They are moving into a place that is not only more affordable for them, but is easier them to navigate. It's a great move for them, and I'm super happy that their quality of life is going to skyrocket. With that in mind, I need to find a new place to live by the end of February, and I have a great line on a fantastic place for what I can manage.
How did I get to this figure?
Well, I took all the expenses I could think of, overestimated them slightly, and then rounded up to the nearest 500 to try and offset the things I forgot about. This includes enough rent to get me to May, the adoption fees to get me an ESA, peripherals for said ESA, several things I'm missing that I need that I just don't own (like pots and pans), the actual things I need to move (like a Uhaul), etc. The reason I'm shooting for May is that I have support to help me from that point on, but getting there is a big deal. The majority of this is literally just rent, and I'm just trying to skate through until I can get some support from the network I have built.
Why GoFundMe?
GFM has fees, while things like Ko-fi don't, so why am I coming here? Well, the first thing is that I have a goal set, and people can see where we're going, but so do other sites and options. But here's the big kicker: I have object permanence issues and a terrible memory, so keeping the money actually separate from my PayPal, Venmo, Ca$hApp, bank account, etc. is important. I can withdraw as necessary and that's worth the money I'm losing because it means I don't accidentally spend it.
