Help Save Ferrington – My Rescued Ferret Fighting a Tumor
I rescued Ferrington when no one else would—now I’m trying to save her life before it’s too late.
Hi everyone,
I never imagined I would have to write something like this, but I’m asking for help to save my ferret, Ferrington.
Ferrington is 6 years old and the sweetest little soul I’ve ever known. She isn’t just a pet—she’s my emotional support animal, my comfort, and truly part of my family.
I rescued Ferrington after she was abandoned and severely abused. When she was found as a baby, she had over 70 ticks on her tiny body. The vet was shocked she even survived.
Since then, she has grown into the most gentle, loving, and well-trained ferret—she is even litter trained and has the kindest personality.
Recently, Ferrington became very sick. After bloodwork and an ultrasound, the vet diagnosed her with adrenal gland disease and a tumor that is dangerously wrapped around a major vein near her heart. Because of this, surgery is not an option.
Her condition is already progressing—her kidneys have already started to swell, and she is losing her hair due to severe hormone imbalances. Watching her fur disappear day by day feels like watching her body give up on her, and it’s heartbreaking.
The only way to save her life is with a hormone implant (“chip”) that needs to be injected every 12 months. This treatment would help stabilize her condition, relieve her symptoms, and even allow her fur to grow back.
Without it, her condition will continue to worsen—her organs may continue to enlarge or shrink, and I may be forced to put her down.
The vet described her illness as comparable to a severe, progressive chronic disease in humans—painful and life-threatening without treatment.
The cost is overwhelming:
$700 for the implant
$200 just for the visit
Additional costs for tests, bloodwork, and follow-ups
I am asking for help to raise $5,000 to cover her treatment and ongoing medical care so she can live the life she deserves.
Ferrington has already survived so much in her life.
She didn’t deserve what happened to her before, and she doesn’t deserve to lose her life now because of something treatable.
If you can donate, share, or even just keep her in your thoughts, it would mean everything to us. Every little bit helps give her a chance to keep living, playing, and being the loving companion she has always been.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read her story and for any support you can give.
With gratitude,
Ferrington + family
