Help Fernando's Mom

Dear Friends, Family, Confidants,

I am reaching out for help on behalf of my mother Silvia to help her keep her home which she is on the verge of losing.

My mother Silvia, now 78, has suffered from failing memory, depression, in addition to a fixed social security income that could not support the increasing cost of living. Her mounting special assessments by her condo association unfortunately fell by the wayside unbeknownst to her family. As a result, she is on the verge of losing her property unless she pays her past due condo fees which now total over 17,000 dollars. Unfortunately her association has been very limited with their options and very unaccommodating with requests for extensions and alternate solutions.

At this point, the terms are to pay the full balance by March 18th or a lein will be placed on the property. Once a lein is placed, the property can go into foreclosure which we anticipate the association will do rather quickly.

It pains us to go the route of crowdfunding, yet we have exhausted other options of home equity lines of credit, reverse mortgage and payment plans with the association. We are even considering filing bankruptcy on her behalf.

Before we consider such extreme measures, we are reaching out to you, the community, for help. Any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated.

To make matters worse, in the midst of all of this, she had a recent fall that resulted in an arm fracture and a hospital stay from (where the photo for this campaign was taken). This exacerbates the situation as she will also need funds for proper home care going forward.

Her remaining children (my brother and I) are very appreciative of any support you can offer.
