When I made this campaign I was focused on recovering from long covid and returning to the workforce. However, my intentions have changed with new symptoms. Shortly after I began seeing my current primary care physician I began having concerning gastrointestinal pain along with a host of other symptoms that included: increased chronic pain, increased fatigue, limited mobility, decreased ability to breathe, chest pain, and inflammation of my urinary tract, liver and kidneys. I went through months of testing to find the source of my new ailments without a concrete answer.
Through this whole ordeal my primary care physician told me there was nothing she could do to address my chronic pain or give me relief from my gastrointestinal issues. Two major symptoms that impacted my ability to provide care for myself or my cat. My health got so bad I had to go a liquid diet and began contacting animal shelters to place my cat up for adoption. My frustration at my symptoms and my doctor's refusal to find a solution lead me to decide to cut off a majority of my medication. While researching which medications would be best to cut off I found out that a medication my doctor prescribed me was the source of my new symptoms and that I was experiencing side effects of the medication PREP.
Due to my doctors negligence to connect the source of my issues to a medication she prescribed I suffered unnecessarily for months. The quality of my life was severely impacted and I feared that I would soon end up in a care home due to being unable to care for myself. I have taken myself off PREP in the hopes of recovery and I have made the choice to pursue a medical malpractice suit. I need your financial help to pursue this.
I am asking for:
$3,500 for an advancement towards a medical malpractice attorney.
$4,500 for transitional support during this time. Focusing on how I will pay rent, buy food or pay for utilities during this time will be a distraction.
