Hi everyone, my name is John, and I want to share a story about how a sweet rescue dog named Steve and an incredible dog trainer named Fernando crossed paths and changed our lives. A few months ago, my friends and I found Steve, a gentle and loving dog, on the east side of town. Steve quickly became my best friend, but he had a rough start in life and needed some professional training to help him settle in. Thanks to a wonderful trainer named Fernando (who we found through a friend on Rover), Steve learned to sit, shake, come on command, and became an even more amazing companion.

Unfortunately, Steve is a bit of an escape artist. On one of the final training days, he slipped out of his leash and ran towards the street. Without hesitation, Fernando put himself in harm’s way to protect Steve and ended up suffering a serious bicep tear while catching him. Fernando is a hero in our eyes, and he saved Steve from a potentially dangerous accident.

Right now, Fernando is without insurance coverage and the surgery to repair his bicep is expensive. We’ve found some financial assistance programs that cover part of the cost, but we still need to raise more to ensure he gets the surgery he needs.
