Help Fern Chase Her Luge Dreams
Donation protected
Fern has officially accepted the invitation to join the USA Luge Development team!
- Background: After a USA Luge Slider Search in Lake Placid this past summer, Fern was selected to join a Screening Camp in November. She met some great kids; all were excited to have their first experiences sliding on the ice track at Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Her coaches are former, as well as prospective Olympians- dedicated and passionate competitors in the sport.
- Current situation: Fern's performance, sliding effort, and impressive athletic ability have contributed to this unique opportunity where she has been asked to join mid-season. Ultimately, she has a fast track (!) to competing nationally in luge.
- Our family: As you may know, my husband Joha and I are both educators as well as Christmas tree farmers. (one more plug to like our page on facebook: Green Dreams Farm :) Both of our kids have helped with planting trees, caring for and trimming trees, as well as with wreath- and centerpiece- making events.
- We would love to budget more for camps and travel for Fern next year and in future years as her skills and aspirations grow. At this time, we are just hopeful that anyone with the desire and means to contribute to her fancy helmet, cost of upcoming training camp stays (at the US Olympic & Paralympic Training Center!) and food and travel expenses (to Park City and beyond!) may have the chance to do so.
A contribution of $20 covering track fees for one sliding session (typically 4-8 runs ~ *40 seconds each*, at MVH), $30 assisting in lodging or meals at the OPTC, or $50 towards her helmet would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance for your support.
