Hi everyone!
In case you missed it: Feral’s two chefs, August & Ryan, and bar manager Kianna have decided to buy the restaurant! In this ownership transfer, we are eager to make some changes that will greatly enhance the guest experience.
If you’ve dined with us, you may have noticed our booths are inaccessible to some and the center dining tables are equally as cramped while being on display and uncomfortable. The dining room was inherited as is and has an ableist quality about it that we want to remedy as soon as possible. It has become a necessity if we want to continue to operate in a manner that favors inclusivity, which is our collective main focus as a whole.
Additionally, there’s tons of other matters to address. What about the patio? What about dessert? What about hiring and training new staff? What about making the kitchen & bar more accessible for the various pop ups we host/will host in the future?
And restaurants are expensive, y’all. Insurance, OLCC, utilities, rental agreements, licensing. These start up costs are hefty as we begin the takeover process and we don’t want to fall behind before we even get a true chance to start.
The goal here is to close down operations for a week, work our butts off making repairs and tearing down and rebuilding and planning and painting, and reopening with a more comfortable and welcoming, and most importantly accessible, dining space. And there lies the need for assistance. First priority is ensuring our staff is covered and taking a week “off” in terms of revenue is hard and scary. It puts us face to face with a $8500+ loss, without any buffer or outside funding. Help from the community awards us the possibility to really make this crazy dream of ours a reality and one that we can share with EVERYONE, not just those that our space can currently accommodate.
Thank you so much to everyone who has showed us love & support thus far, those who have offered influential feedback and offered helping hands - we are endlessly grateful and so excited to continue to move forward and open our doors to community.
