For more than a decade, a growing population of community cats has quietly taken root in a small rural retirement and veteran community near the national forest. Left unmanaged, these colonies continue to expand — creating hardship for residents, wildlife, and the cats themselves. I’m stepping in with a humane, proven solution: Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). My immediate goal is to spay and neuter more than 100 cats to stop the cycle of overpopulation and stabilize the colonies.

Once fixed, the next step is prevention and protection through vaccinations and ongoing care. Any funds raised beyond surgeries and vaccines will go directly toward ongoing veterinary care, emergency treatment, food, and basic medications to keep these cats healthy and prevent suffering in the community. This is not a new problem — it has been building for over 10 years. With many residents on fixed incomes, including retirees and veterans, large-scale intervention simply hasn’t been possible until now. Humane management protects the cats, supports the people who live here, and helps safeguard nearby natural lands through responsible stewardship.

Every dollar goes directly to veterinary services and care. I am also seeking transport volunteers to help safely bring cats to and from veterinary appointments.
