Hi - my name is Emma and my dogs name is Fenrir. I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old. Anybody who knows me - even peripherally- knows that he is my world. Adopting him catapulted me into working in veterinary medicine for the last 7 1/2 years helping others take care of their pets as well. He is my absolute everything.
Yesterday I had some diagnostics done on a lump I found and so far the results are looking like a cancerous process. I am still waiting on the cytology results from the pathologist but did receive the radiology report that there is concern it has metastasized to his lungs.
I am fortunate to work in the field and therefore have a lot of support from the doctors I work with and my coworkers to get him referrals to be seen as soon as next week. And I am also lucky I got him pet insurance when he was younger. While his insurance will cover 70% of care (within their standards of what they cover) I am still looking at paying up front for a CT scan and surgery, with the potential of chemo pending his cytology results.
I am hoping to raise enough that I can pay for some of these treatments up front and use the reimbursement for whatever follow up treatments or surgery he is going to need. Veterinary care (even with a potential industry discount) is still expensive.
I am not ready to say goodbye to him. And I’m not going to let him suffer without trying to give him the best quality life I possibly can. I know money is tight everywhere - but literally anything will help us right now.
Thank You
