Feliza, or Feli as we lovingly call her, has been a constant source of comfort and joy in my life for the past eight years. She came into our family when I was a lonely, awkward kid, and quickly became my best friend and confidant. Through every major life change—moving countries, starting college, and facing family health challenges—Feliza has been there, offering her quiet companionship and unconditional love. She’s not just a pet; she’s a cherished member of our family, deeply bonded with my mom, my roommate Ivan, my girlfriend Lasey, and me. Her gentle presence has helped us through tough times, and her love for music, especially Chopin, has inspired my journey as a pianist.

Feliza has always been there for us, whether it’s curling up with my mom while she reads, listening to me practice piano, or comforting my dad during his own health struggles. She’s a sweet, intelligent cat who loves sunbathing, playing with Ivan’s chain, and cuddling up with us at night. She even senses when we’re unwell or sad, always finding a way to offer comfort.

Recently, Feliza’s health took a sudden turn. She lost weight rapidly, stopped playing, and struggled to breathe. After an urgent vet visit, we learned she has a collapsed lung due to aggressive pleural effusion, and possibly feline lymphoma. The costs for her care—xrays, cytology, bloodwork, ER visits, and now referrals to oncology—are overwhelming for us, especially as recent immigrants with limited resources. My parents are currently in Colombia for their own medical care, and I’m a college student working toward an Aerospace Engineering degree.

Despite these challenges, we’re determined to give Feliza the best chance at recovery, whether that means surgery, chemotherapy, or, if needed, a peaceful and loving goodbye. Feliza is still young and has so much more love to give. She’s been a pillar of support for me and my family, and we want nothing more than to see her healthy and happy, enjoying her “retirement” with us after college. Your support will help us cover her urgent medical expenses and give her the care she deserves.
